OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT
Why We Exist As A Church
The purpose of Trinity Church Central Oahu is to build the kingdom of God by courageously and joyfully sharing with the world the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
OUR MOTTO
Expect Great Things From God, Attempt Great Things For God
The Great Commandment: Matthew 22:36-40, “Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.’”
The Great Commission: Matthew 28:19-20, “Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
The Great Gospel: Romans 1:16 – 17, For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
The Great God: Ephesians 3:20 – 21, Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
To accomplish great things for God, Trinity is constantly going in four directions:
—-To “Love God with all your heart” is “UPREACH”.
—-To “Love your neighbor as yourself” and to “teach them…all things” is “INREACH”.
—-To “Go…make disciples” is “OUTREACH”.
—-To become a mature disciple is “DOWNREACH”
I. Trinity Church is committed to meaningful worship (UPREACH).
A. Worship is an action in which we recognize the greatness, power, glory, majesty and splendor of God and respond to what He has done.
(1 Chronicles 29:11-13) Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. {12}
Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. {13} Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.
B. Our worship is first of all to God; He is the audience. Yet, it is also sensitive to the lostness of most people in Hawaii.
C. Because we are in the presence of the God who gives us forgiveness, peace, and purpose, our worship is celebration.
D. The most effective way for you to get closer to God is through personal and family worship.

B. Meeting needs.
1. “Jesus said, “What do you want me to do for you?
(Luke 18:41) “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
2. The church will never grow beyond its capacity to meet needs.
3. The felt needs of most Americans are primarily: emotional and relational.
4. The meeting of several unfelt needs is the most important development that can come to any life. Common unfelt needs: (1) people need to know the Lord, they need a relationship with God, and (2) people need a sense of purpose, a vision of what God can do in and through a person’s life.
(Jeremiah 2:13) “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
C. Open acceptance.
We start where people are, not where people want them to be. We don’t expect people to act like believers until they become believers. Don’t confuse acceptance with approval!
(John 8:3-11) The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group {4} and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. {5} In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” {6} They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. {7} When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” {8} Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. {9} At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. {10} Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” {11} “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
Examples of acceptance: different levels of commitment and maturity; different church backgrounds; and differing views on non-essential doctrines. FACT – It is more important for us to be in philosophical unity than in doctrinal unity in every minor area.
IV. Trinity Church is committed to making mature disciples (DOWNREACH).
A. Going Deep Into the Things of God
B. Developing a Balance of Mature Doctrine and Mature Character.
C. We are absolutely committed to the Bible as the Word of God and we want to help all who attend develop a Christian worldview.
D. Mature disciples know what is important.
