Later he received a master’s degree in counseling from the University of North Carolina and served as a missionary to Mexico. In 1977, upon graduation from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pastor Anderson and his wife, Martha, moved to Hawaii. Pastor Anderson, or "Pastor Pete" as he prefers to be called, is the founding pastor of Trinity Church Windward in Kailua. In addition, he has served as the director of Trinity Christian Counseling Center and with his wife helped to found Trinity Christian School. In 1990, he received his doctorate from the International Graduate School of Theology. In 1991, Pastor Pete started holding services in Central Oahu and in 1995 was installed as pastor of Trinity Church Central Oahu. Pastor Pete’s passion is planting churches in the Hawaiian Islands to reach the unchurched here with the transforming message of the Gospel of Christ. In that regard he is working on the establishment of several other churches and teaches "counseling" and "church planting" at International College and Graduate School. Pastor Pete also has a real love for the people of Uganda, and in recent years has traveled there annually to help in the planting and growth of new churches. She received the M.Ed. from the University of Virginia. Pastor Pete and Martha have two grown daughters, Katie and Carrie, who live in Georgia.
